Support local businesses by shopping local! It’s easy enough when you live in a community as vibrant and small-business-centered as Wake Forest. Here, you’ll discover fantastic vintage shopping, delicious local breweries, cozy cafes, and so much more. Plus, shopping in Downtown Wake Forest just got easier.

That’s because the Town of Wake Forest recently introduced their “Downtown Dollars” program. Here’s how it works.

Local Shopping Made Easier

Say you just had a new neighbor move in down the street. You want to give them a unique present to get them better acclimated to the area. Downtown Dollars is the perfect gift.

They can only be used at participating Downtown Wake Forest shops and restaurants, but they function just as regular money, and are available in increments of $10. Unlike gift cards, they never expire.

Plus, you’ll find a whole lot of businesses in Wake Forest that accept Downtown Dollars. A few of our favorites include:

Lumpy’s Ice Cream

An ice cream cone.

Who doesn’t love ice cream? There’s no better way to treat yourself after a long day of shopping, that’s for sure!

Lumpy’s features a rotating variety of delicious, inventive flavors that include old-fashioned favorites like chocolate, vanilla, and pistachio… as well as crazy new ones like hot habanero peppers!

They have adults-only, liquor-based flavors, as well!

Wake Forest Farmers’ Market

Supporting local farmers is just as important as supporting local business, which is why we love hitting up the Wake Forest Farmers’ Market. This is the best place to get fresh, locally grown fruits and veggies.

In addition to the awesome fresh produce, there are a variety of delicious vendors offering goods and artisanal treats. They include Strong Arm Baking Company, That’s Good Chocolate, Black & White Coffee Roasters, and Turtle Mist Farms.
