Ring in the 4th at Apex’s Olde Fashioned Fourth Of July Celebration

With the 4th of July on the horizon, pretty much every community in the Triangle is gearing up for a jam-packed day of fun and festivities. If you’re looking for an event that brings it all together—a parade, inflatables, carnival games, food and drink, and much more—then you’ll want to check out the Olde Fashioned Fourth of July in Apex!

Since the celebration lasts from 9am – 1pm in Downtown Apex, you’ll have plenty of time soak up some fun then stop at home before heading to a fireworks show. Here are the highlights of the event:

Tons of Activities

A carnival game.

The day kicks off at 9am with a flag raising and mayor’s speech, which is slated to run for around 15 minutes. After that, the festivities begin—and Apex is pulling out all the stops.

You can expect inflatable games, a giant slide, face painting, a karaoke contest, carnival-style games, a climbing wall, and plenty of food, drinks, and ice cream from local vendors.

The Parade

Flags in a lawn.

Grab an early lunch, then around 11:45am, the Uncle Sam’s Parade of Wheels will start lining up, and the activities will shut down. Kids ages 12 and under are free to participate in the parade and are encouraged to deck out their bikes, trikes, wagons, or other non-motor vehicles.

Throw on some red, white, and blue streamers, tie some balloons to the handlebars, and get in the patriotic spirit! (Just be sure to wear a helmet, because safety first.)

Splash Down

A boy playing a sprinkler with an American flag out of focus.

Last but certainly not least, the Apex Fire Department will be cooling all willing participants off at the Splash Down. Don’t worry—you won’t be getting blasted with a fire hose. But there will be a refreshing mist spraying down the street, perfect for getting a little relief from the hot summer weather!

Fireworks Displays in the Triangle

While Apex doesn’t have a fireworks show, there are tons of options around the Triangle to check out. And since the Olde Fashioned Fourth Of July celebration concludes in the afternoon, you’ll have ample time to get ready. Here are a few nearby fireworks shows to finish the holiday off with:

  • Cary: July 4th Celebration at Koka Booth Amphitheater
  • Raleigh: 4th of July Fireworks Display around the Carter-Finley Stadium and PNC Arena area
  • Knightdale: July 4th Celebration at Knightdale Station Park
  • Raleigh: Fireworks & Star Spangled Block Party at Brier Creek Commons
